Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the Centre for Early Medieval Studies we would like to cordially invite you to the conference Step by Step towards the Sacred: Ritual, Movement and Images in the Middle Ages, which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday (May 16-17th) in the Hans Belting Library.
The conference focuses on the study of the dialogue between movement, ritual, and images, which were created from late Antiquity to the 14th century. Taking a variety of points of view, the individual constributions deal mainly with the concept of the human body in motion (individual as well as collective) and its role for activation and creation of the sacred meaning of spaces, in which the participants of such rituals were present.
